Methodology - Fluent reading as a resource
Literate Orientation | Transformations | Spelling | Writing
The red background of the diagram represents the fluent reading of a shared text – the foundation for AL lessons. It sits behind the strategies used in the teaching sequence.
The text the teacher chooses for the class to work on is crucial to the success of the program. It must be literate, more like written than oral language and it must be close to age appropriate. If the students are to stay interested in the text over a series of lessons, they need to develop a rich and engaging knowledge of it.
The text should also have the potential to include all the reader resources suggested by Freebody and Luke, - phonics and spelling knowledge, high level comprehension, critical literacy and writing.
